14 things to include in your details box:

Updated: May 21

Details, details, details...

Honestly. as a wedding photographer, this is one of my favorite moments to capture throughout the wedding day, along with the bride getting into her dress with her mom, any and all first looks, the pre ceremony prayer, the "just married" walking down the aisle photo, the wedding party portraits, the bride and groom portraits, sunset photos, the exit, I honestly like all of it. I guess I can't say that this is one of my favorite moments, then, because it is all too good. Anyways, it is such a special time because I get a peek at all of these meaningful touches that are being brought into your wedding day.

That is so so sweet to me.

With that being said, i want to share 14 things to include in your details box for your photographer, and if applicable, videographer on wedding day. Now, I typically do more bridal details over the groom's depending on whether or not these are particularly important to the groom. In addition, their details are typically more subtle and with less "things". Here are 10 ideas for the bride's detail photos!

For the bride:

  • Wedding Invites: Included can also be the RSVP and Save the Dates. Typically, I will rearrange and try a few different shots, some with a lot of the details and some with more of a minimal detailed shot.

  • Vows/Letters to your Significant other: Are you and your groom going to be writing personal vows or letters to each other on wedding day, add those to your details! it will be a fun touch to include and look back on.

  • Bouquet, loose petals: The bouquet also adds such a fun pop of color! If the bouquets is more so neutral, it just brings a natural beauty to the image.

  • Family Heirloom: Including a family heirloom is a sweet and intimate way of bringing a loved one or someone that may have even passed to be apart of your day. If this is something you would like to be captured, I am more than happy to include whatever that personal touch may be.

  • Your shoes: Every girl loves her shoes! Or maybe it is just me, but I LOVE seeing the shoes a bride picks out for her wedding day and I cannot wait to see yours!

  • Engagement ring and wedding band (the bride and groom's): You're getting MARRIED!!! Can you believe it??? The ring symbolizes the eternal love and commitment within a relationship as a ring goes around and around and has no end. I want to capture the commitment of your lives to one another thus the importance of your engagement ring and wedding bands.

  • Jewelry: Beyond your rings, feel free to include any other pieces of jewelry such as a necklace, bracelet, earrings, etc. (this may also be the family heirloom I previously mentioned.)

  • Veil: Now i know, not every bride will want a veil and that is totally okay! however, it is a beautiful piece that can be included in your details, as well.

  • Perfume: There are so many beautiful and elegant perfume bottles and they add such a sophisticated touch to the detail photos.

  • Fun additions: Loose ribbon, ring box(es), a pretty tray, a personal touch that is sentimental to the bride and groom, ALL THE THINGS!! These fun additions are totally up to you! They simply add a personal touch of you and the groom's personality. I once saw a couple add in beer cans because it was something that they both loved. I had never seen that before, but it meant something of importance to them and allowed me to think, "How can I bring a bride and groom's personality into this image?"

Some examples:

Now, to the groom:

  • Shoes

  • Tie

  • Cologne

  • His ring

An example:

I don't have much to say about the men's details, buuuut I will say I would love to capture these pieces, hehe.

All of these details are by no means required for your photographer. instead, this is more so just to spark some ideas and get you started on thinking about what you might like to include in your details box for your photographer.

That's all from me today. Let me know if there is a particular topic you'd like for me to chit chat about! I am more than happy to share.

Happy Wednesday!

With Love,
